This enthusiastic family of four are all avid skiers and were clear about their desired location and entertainment needs. However, the ideal house they found required some improvement. Despite having good bones, the newly built house lacked the rustic chalet vibe the family craved.
To help with this, Lindsay Mens and Haley Dermenjian were brought in to transform their new home. They upgraded the interior architecture and added texture and warmth with comfortable furniture, antiques, and vintage accents, while carefully selecting light fixtures to enhance the ambiance of the main rooms. Due to budget constraints, the designers strategically chose interesting objects and furnishings to create maximum impact. Deep, cozy sofas and chairs were added to ground the family and living rooms, creating the perfect spot for après-ski drinks and snacks.
To further enhance the ski chalet ambiance, the designers chose classic fabrics such as plaid and buffalo check, as well as textures like wool and boucle. The family’s love for antique rugs and vintage one-of-a-kind accessories was incorporated into the design, along with a bold sense of color, resulting in a magical mix.
In the kitchen, functionality was a top priority to accommodate cooking for a big group of hungry skiers. The designers created a spacious floorplan with high-spec amenities, ample storage, and a large island perfect for preparing a supersized spread!
Thanks to the creative expertise of Lindsay Mens and project management by Haley Dermenjian, this well-located vacation home is now infused with a relaxed and chic weekend vibe that’s perfect for this fun-loving family’s mountain retreat. Photography by Patrick Bille.
